Bagged 2nd Prizes at AR/VR Hackathon at IIT Bhubaneswar

The Augmented Reality group namely AR Hub (as team Brahmos) of KIIT won the WAVR Hackathon on AR/VR organised by VARCoE (Virtual and Augmented Reality Centre of Excellence) at IIT Bhubaneswar. ARHub is a group of AR/VR enthusiasts at KIIT Deemed to be University under the guidance of Prof. Sambit Prasad Kar, Design Thinking Lab, School of Electronics Engineering.

One of the teams of AR Hub, Team Brahmos consisting of Sanchit Sharma, Praddyum Verma, Anirban Das and Aishika Das presented the project SanskritiVR which had AR-VR Gallantry Museum of Indian Army, the project showcased the potential of AR/VR in tourism especially for museums and galleries, how it can promote global tourism and encourage educational tourism for students.

 This was the second edition of WAVR which was held online due to COVID-19 situation in the country. It was a two-day programme which had expert talks on AR/VR from the industry, AR/VR Hackathon and Startup Colloquia.

Team Brahmos of the AR Hub bagged the 2nd position along with a cash prize of Rs. 30,000.

This is the second consecutive year that AR Hub team has won the competition, last year it bagged 2nd and 3rd position as well.

Team Bags Second Position in BITS Pilani Tech Fest

Team Lonex of KIIT Robotics Society, comprising of Asma Mohiuddin, Vaishnavi Jaiswal, Md Iqbal, Nikhil Kumar and Sahil Anjum, bagged Second Position with a cash prize of Rs. 4000 in the Apogee Innovation Challenge, a flagship event of the 39th  edition of the Annual International Technical Fest of BITS Pilani, Apogee ’21. Launched in partnership with Germentor, Impact Life Solutions on 10th November 2020, Apogee Innovation Challenge, which goes with the tagline ‘Minimum Budget Maximum Impact’, aimed to use immense potential of the youth to create and build an idea at minimum cost and solve a problem. The only restriction was in the terms of expense or manufacturing cost which needed to be in the range of Rs. 1500 – Rs. 3000.

The project of KIIT students, titled ‘Remote Plant Monitoring System’, is a microcontroller based embedded system using IoT platform. It aims at monitoring the plant health by observing a few physical factors like temperature, humidity, light intensity, soil moisture, etc. With the help of a solenoid valve, the gadget can be used to water the indoor plants by controlling it from anywhere in the world. All these features have been implemented in a price range of Rs. 800 to Rs. 900.

The credit for their success goes to the Robotics Society of KIIT Deemed to be University, faculty coordinators, Prof. Vimal K. Shrivastava, Prof. Mano Ranjan Kumar and Prof. Nageswara Rao Budipi, and student coordinators, who left no stone unturned to create an innovative and productive ecosystem. Prof. Nirmal Kumar Rout, their mentor, expressed satisfaction over the success of Team Lonex and congratulated the team members for securing 2nd position in the competition.
