The “Hack the IoT” Technical Event, conducted as part of KIIT FEST 9.0 on 6th and 7th March 2026 at the School of Electronics Engineering, KIIT (Deemed to be University), Bhubaneswar, was a highly engaging and innovation-driven competition aimed at fostering practical skills and creativity in the domain of Internet of Things (IoT). Organized by the ELabs Society, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 100 students, creating a vibrant and competitive technical atmosphere. Held from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM across two days at LT-1 and LT-2, Old Building (Campus-12), the event provided a dynamic platform for participants to design, develop, and present innovative IoT-based solutions to real-world challenges. The event was graced by esteemed faculty members including Prof. Jitendra Kumar Das, Prof. Pradipta Kumar Dutta, Prof. Tejaswini Kar, Prof. S. K. Mohapatra, Prof. T. M. Behera, Prof. Deepak Kumar Rout, Prof. Anupam Samui, and Prof. P. Biswal, whose guidance and evaluation enriched the overall experience. A key highlight of the event was the hands-on problem-solving approach, where participants worked in teams to conceptualize and implement smart systems using sensors, embedded platforms, and communication technologies. The competition emphasized innovation, teamwork, and technical execution, encouraging students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios. The primary objective of the event was to promote technical competitive participation awareness and outreach while nurturing problem-solving and design-thinking skills among students. Participants showcased projects addressing domains such as smart homes, environmental monitoring, and automation.
