Write-up on the Event:

The School of Electronics Engineering, in collaboration with the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (APS), IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society (MTT-S) Student Branch Chapter, and the IEEE AP-S and MTT-S Bhubaneswar Chapter, successfully organized an IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society (MTT-S) Distinguished Microwave Lecturers (DML) and Young Professionals (YP) Lecture Series on 10th December 2025. The event was conducted with the objective of academic knowledge enhancement, professional development, and social awareness and outreach among students, researchers, and young professionals. The lecture series featured two eminent speakers. The first lecture, titled “Towards Microwave-Driven Smart Coatings with Integrated Self-Monitoring and Real-Time Evaluation,” was delivered by Prof. Mohammad H. Zarifi, IEEE Fellow, Associate Professor and Principal Research Chair in Sensors and Microelectronics at the University of British Columbia, Canada. His talk provided deep insights into advanced microwave-driven sensing technologies, smart coatings, and their real-time monitoring applications, inspiring participants to explore interdisciplinary research. The second lecture, “Carving Your Niche: Thriving in an Industry Dominated by Giants,” was presented by Dr. Vishal Balasubramaniam, SoC Design Verification Engineer at Intel Canada and an IEEE MTT-S Young Professional. He shared valuable perspectives on career growth, innovation, and leadership in the global semiconductor industry. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and fostered meaningful interaction between academia and industry, making it a significant and impactful academic initiative.
