The IEEE Day Celebration Week, organized from 11th October 2025 to 17th October 2025 by the IEEE KIIT Student Branch Chapter at the School of Electronics Engineering, KIIT (Deemed to be University), Bhubaneswar, served as a dynamic platform to promote innovation, interdisciplinary learning, and professional engagement among students. As a significant highlight of this celebration, an Invited Technical Talk Session on “Recent Developments in Aerospace and Defence Sectors” was successfully conducted on Tuesday, 14th October 2025 at 7:00 PM IST. The event was organized by the IEEE Aerospace and Electronics Systems Society (AESS) Student Branch Chapter (SBC), reflecting its commitment to exposing students to cutting-edge advancements in aerospace technologies. The session was held in a hybrid mode, combining physical presence at Seminar Hall-1, Campus-6, KIIT (DU), with online participation through Google Meet, thereby ensuring wider accessibility and engagement. The talk was delivered by Prof. Mrutyunjay Jena, Dean of the School of Aerospace Engineering, KIIT (DU), Bhubaneswar, whose expertise and experience brought valuable insights into the evolving landscape of aerospace and defence sectors. A total of 30 participants attended the session, actively engaging in discussions and gaining exposure to contemporary developments in the field. The primary objective of the event was to enhance academic knowledge while fostering social awareness and outreach by highlighting the strategic and technological importance of aerospace and defence systems. During the talk, the speaker elaborated on recent innovations in aerospace engineering, including advancements in unmanned aerial systems, satellite technologies, defence communication systems, and indigenous development initiatives. A key highlight of the session was the emphasis on self-reliance in defence technologies and the role of Indian research and development in strengthening national security. The session also addressed the integration of electronics and communication systems in modern aerospace platforms, encouraging students to explore interdisciplinary research opportunities. The interactive nature of the session enabled participants to ask questions and gain deeper understanding of real-world challenges and future prospects in the aerospace domain. Furthermore, the talk inspired students to consider careers and research in aerospace and defence sectors, aligning with the vision of technological advancement for societal benefit.
