The Distinguished Lecture on “The Art of Writing a Research Paper,” organized by the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) Student Branch Chapter at the School of Electronics Engineering, KIIT (Deemed to be University), Bhubaneswar, on 28th March 2025, was a highly impactful academic session aimed at enhancing research and technical writing skills among students. Conducted from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM in offline mode at the Auditorium, Old Building, the session witnessed the active participation of 30 students, creating an engaging and focused learning environment. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Atif Iqbal, a Fellow of IEEE/IET/IE/AIAA, Vice-Chair of the IEEE Qatar Section, and a globally recognized Top 2% Highly-Cited Scientist, whose expertise added immense value to the session. A key highlight of the lecture was the comprehensive guidance on structuring a high-quality research paper, including problem formulation, literature review, methodology, results presentation, and proper referencing techniques. The speaker also emphasized the importance of originality, clarity, and ethical practices in academic writing. The primary objective of the event was to enhance academic knowledge while promoting research awareness and scholarly communication among aspiring engineers. Participants gained valuable insights into publishing in reputed journals and conferences, along with tips to improve the impact and visibility of their research work. The interactive session encouraged questions and discussions, enabling students to clarify their doubts effectively.
