The IEEE Invited Technical Talk on “Clinical Applications of EEG in Mental Health: Diagnostic and Therapeutic Insights for Neuropsychiatric Disorders,” organized by the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) Student Branch Chapter at the School of Electronics Engineering, KIIT (Deemed to be University), Bhubaneswar, on 9th July 2025, was a highly interdisciplinary and impactful session bridging engineering and healthcare. Conducted from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM in online mode via Google Meet, the session witnessed the active participation of 30 students and researchers, fostering an engaging and intellectually stimulating environment. The talk was delivered by Prof. Maheshkumar H. Kolekar, Associate Professor at IIT Patna and a globally recognized researcher featured among Stanford’s Top 2% Scientists (2021–2024), whose expertise added immense depth to the discussion. A key highlight of the session was the detailed exploration of EEG-based signal processing techniques for diagnosing and treating neuropsychiatric disorders. The speaker elaborated on applications in mental health assessment, brain-computer interfaces, and therapeutic monitoring.
